Chris Burdick, Supervisor
321 Bedford Road
Bedford Hills, NY 10507
Bea Rhodes, Confidential Secretary to the Supervisor
Welcome to the Town of Bedford. I am very proud of what is offered here – thanks to the tremendous spirit of community and volunteerism shared by Bedford’s residents.
Your Town government provides services to the community with its full-time Police Department, Department of Public Works and Recreation and Parks Department. We are proud of their work and responsiveness to the residents and businesses of the Town.
The Town is comprised of three unincorporated hamlets, Bedford Hills, Bedford Village and Katonah. Each has its own identity with a rich history and wonderful resources. You will be amazed at the depth and scope of what is offered. Each hamlet features a library, which are open to all, but focus individually on the needs of its immediate community. The hamlets are also served by their own fire departments, whose volunteer members meet the needs of communities and work together to protect all Bedford residents. Bedford is also tremendously grateful for the volunteers of the Katonah/Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps. All Bedford residents are welcome to use the facilities of our three town parks for swimming, picnicking, and a broad range of other athletic activities. We are fortunate to have scores of museums, nature trails, horse trails, conservancy organizations and service clubs and organizations working hard for our community.
As Supervisor, I serve as the Chief Fiscal Officer, responsible for preparing the Town’s budget for consideration and adoption by our five member Town Board, of which I am a member. I chair Town Board meetings and set its agendas. As Chief Executive Officer of the Town, I am responsible for implementing Board policies and overseeing the day to day functions and operations of the Town through our department heads. Councilwoman Lee Roberts serves as Deputy Supervisor. Don Scott and MaryAnn Carr are our other Board members. We are here to serve your needs.
I’d like you to know that the Board welcomes your suggestions on how to make Bedford a better place to live and work. My office is always open to you. The Board, Department Heads, and our dedicated Town Employees have worked hard to find ways to provide a high level of services and facilities at minimal cost to our residents. We will continue to do so.
I am here to serve the community. I work in partnership with our residents and businesses. Please feel free to contact me any time you have any problems, concerns or suggestions. You may also wish to meet with me, so please call to set up an appointment. I also will be hosting “Coffee with the Supervisor and the Town Board” in the coming months in each of our parks and at other locations in Town in the fall. If you have a disability or otherwise cannot come to me, please call and I’ll come to you.
