The Assessor is appointed by the Town Board to a six-year term. The Assessor is responsible for setting the assessed value of buildings and land within a property. The assessment is the value upon which a property’s taxes are based.

Exemptions: You may contact the Assessor’s office to discuss exemption options and requirements. All applications must be filed on or before May 1st. Available exemptions:

  • Agricultural Assessment Program Exemption
  • STAR – New Applicants Recent Law Changes
  • Low Income Senior Exemption
  • Persons with Disabilities and Limited Income Exemption
  • Alternative Veterans Exemption
  • Cold War Veteran Exemption
  • Volunteer Firefighters/Ambulance Workers Exemption
  • Not-for-Profit Organizations Exemption

Residents wishing to contest the values set by the Assessor, may appeal to the Board of Assessment Review. Forms must be completed and filed with the Assessor’s office starting on June 1st and no later than Grievance Day, which traditionally is the 3rd Tuesday in June.
