Power Outage Message

update 11/3 – 5:10pm: NYSEG and Con Edison report that there now are no power outages in Bedford. It is important to note that there may be instances in which the property owner needs to contact his/her electrician with respect to electrical service (under NYS Public Service Commission regulations the utility only is responsible for service to the utility pole at the street). Though Town offices are closed tomorrow for Election Day, we will continue to be available should there be any remaining problems. If you feel that there is a further problem with your own service which should be addressed, please e-mail supervisor@bedfordny.gov.

update 11/3 – As of 10:16 AM 105 NYSEG customers are without service.  NYSEG continues to report estimated service restoration by 4 PM today.  Correction regarding Con Edison: there remain 25 customers without service.  They estimate service restoration also by 4 PM today.  Both utilities report crews on site.

update 11/3 8:49am – 110 customers still without power. NYSE/Con Ed continues to work on restoration.

update: 11/3 8:25am – Power has been restored to much of Bedford. As of 6 PM approximately 580 NYSEG customers and one Con Ed customer have not had power restored.  We have been in constant contact with both utilities.  NYSEG has sent additional crews with more arriving in the morning.

11/2 – 4:48pm – The Town of Bedford is aware of power outages in the Town and has deployed personnel to immediately address the situation. Outages in the Con Edison service area are minimal.  Approximately 2400 of NYSEG Customers in the Bedford service area are without power.  It is anticipated that power will be restored tomorrow afternoon. The Town is working very closely with both NYSEG and Con Edison, both have dispatched crews first to make safe downed power lines and then to work to restore power as quickly as possible.  Do not go near downed power lines and do not assume that they have been de-energized.  The safety of our residents and those working on power lines comes first.  We will be updating the community on a regular basis.
