Storm Notice Update

Good afternoon,

As earlier reported, the Town of Bedford has made preparations for the blizzard forecast.  Heavy snow is anticipated starting this evening and continuing through tomorrow.  Road conditions are likely to deteriorate quickly and become very hazardous.  We would urge you to avoid travel if possible and to exercise extreme caution if you need to use the roads.  Due to the impending blizzard conditions, Town Offices will be closed tomorrow, January 27.  Town Court will not hold session tomorrow.

Updated forecasts indicate a low risk of power outages.  At this time we do not have plans to open a warming center. If you or anyone else should have need for shelter through the storm, please advise by calling me at 666-6530 or by e-mail at and we will make arrangements through the Red Cross or other emergency shelters.

Finally, for those of you making your way home on Metro-North, Metro-North reports that additional trains are being added for tonight’s rush hour but we have received notice through the County’s Office of Emergency Management that Metro North will suspend service at 11 PM tonight.    For further information, go to

You can get further information on the Town’s website at, which we will be updating as we continue to closely monitor the situation.   If you are not receiving alerts from our Police Department, please consider signing up for e-mail notifications (Nixle) through the Town’s website at  If you haven’t signed up for our “What’s New” email, please consider signing up for notifications by clicking here .
